Metro Ecosse Registers for Overnight Sleep-out to Help End Homelessness.
Where better to spend a night under the stars than in Edinburgh, in December?
In an heroic, and slightly crazy, effort to help raise money and awareness for Homelessness in Scotland, Metro Ecosse has entered a corporate team to take part in the much-anticipated Sleep in the Park event organised by Social Bite. The team from Metro Ecosse, headed by MD Oscar Askin, will wrap up for a chilly night out under the stars in Edinburgh’s Princes Street Gardens on 9th December.
At the nation’s biggest sleep-out, Sarah-Jane, Grant and Oscar will have only their sleeping bags at ‘lights out’ to protect them from the cold. Yes, believe it or not, tents are not permitted at this fund raising event.
The high profile event - supported by the private sector, members of the public and the Scottish parliament - aims to end homelessness in Scotland for good by raising £4,000,000 towards a nationwide jobs program, accommodation solutions and addiction rehabilitation.
Performances by Liam Gallagher, Deacon Blue and Amy Macdonald should help take their minds off the cold. Hosted by Rob Brydon, the evening will close with a bedtime story read by Sir John Cleese before participants settle down for the night. For those who last the night, they will wake up to the smell of bacon rolls, served by a host of celebrities and local MPs.
The temperature in Edinburgh in December can frequently reach below freezing point with the added possibility of snow. The long range forecast is for an Arctic snap with temperatures potentially reaching -15 degrees. So we wish them the best of luck!
