Filming An Online Auction of Extraordinary Collectables for Auctionata.
Working with leading online auctioneers Auctionata Paddle8, we filmed 10 auctions over six days for live-streaming on their online auction channel. The high profile auctions spanned all aspects of modern collectables including post-war art, prints, luxury accessories, photographs and design objects. The setting was created to give online bidders a glimpse of the lifestyle of today’s collector.
Curated by Paddle8, the online marketplace for collectors of extraordinary art, the auctions were broadcast from a London venue which became the Paddle8 Pad – a chic townhouse off Regent’s Park which was staged with fine art and objects to create a sense of the modern collector’s lifestyle. Each auction focused on a specific type of work ranging from contemporary jewellery to furniture. The post-war art sale featured works by Picasso, Paul Klee, Bridget Riley, Banksy, Damien Hirst and Anthony Gormley to name a few.
Martin Heyne from Auctionata said, “Providing a premium experience for our online audience is foremost in what we do. Metro Broadcast understood this, and integrated itself very well, both technically as well as from the creative perspective, and was able to work on a consistent high level throughout the whole week, providing a professional service.
Our film crew comprised three camera operators using Sony HD equipment, a grip and a location sound engineer to capture the auctioneer, experts, special guest presenters and, most importantly, the works themselves. Camera and sound feeds were streamed live over IP to Auctionata’s Berlin-based control room where it was mixed with pre-recorded curator interviews then broadcast live to bidders world-wide on the Paddle8 Pad auction channel.
The live shows told the compelling stories not only of the rare works but also of the collectors who have owned them, creating an insightful and engaging experience for the online bidding community.
